The Brimfield Antique Show
As seen from the eyes (& in this case feet) of a Cape Cod antique shop owner.
With roughly 5000 dealers and 30,000 shoppers over 6 days it is an exhausting but amusing time with surprisingly few problems.
Antiques, vintage items and just about anything else you can imagine is there for the picking. The trick is trying to find just what you want or something you didn’t know you needed.
The September Brimfield show had the best weather I can remember in over 20years of attending. The crowds were there and the vendors were so thrilled they up’d there prices and were selling retail. So there was an even bigger challenge to find items at reasonable prices.
I now go with a wish list from my customers that can’t attend themselves or just want to have a better shot at finding an item.
Having made contacts over the years with different dealers I usually stop there first and then scout out new ones.
Yes, I did manage to pick up some very cool pieces such as an Old Blue Paint Mirror, Bait Baskets to turn into hanging lights of course, an Old Wood Vanity that will make a wonderful cottage buffet, Vintage Window Screens that have been painted with a floral design terrific on a wall and 1950s Barber Shop Bottles with porcelain tops for unique soap dispensers at the sink. All these in more pictures up shortly on my web site www.solsticehome.com
So will I return?? Of Course! What’s better than the thrill of the hunt!
